About the Volunteer Centre Wakefield District

Our Volunteer Centre Wakefield District supports people who want to volunteer and helps organisations that want to involve volunteers.

We provide organisations with information, support, training and research and signposts individuals to apply for volunteering roles. We also promote and campaign for volunteering locally and regionally.

Our Volunteer Centre Wakefield District is part of a national network of volunteer centres, is a member of Volunteering England and has Volunteer England’s Accreditation and Quality Standards Award. It is part of a regional network, the Yorkshire and Humber Volunteer Centre Organisers Network (YAHVCON).

The Volunteer Centre has a database of volunteering opportunities in Wakefield District, and uploads the information onto the national volunteering database, www.do-it.org.uk, so people can find out what is available in their local area.

Over the past 12 months more than 1100 people have contacted the Volunteer Centre for information about volunteering opportunities.

The Volunteer Centre is managed by Voluntary Action Wakefield District.
