Voluntary integrated services for older people (VISOP)

VISOP aims to:

  • improve service provision for older people
  • draw together voluntary sector organisations who provide services to older people in the Wakefield District, providing a voice and representation to appropriate meeting structures
  • facilitate partnership working between member organisations
  • monitor service provision for older people in the Wakefield District
  • act as an interface between statutory services and those voluntary sector organisations working with older people in the Wakefield District
  • facilitate the district-wide Older Peoples Forum
  • make a key contribution to the strategic development of services for older people in the Wakefield District.

Members of VISOP work independently in their own areas of provision and are responsible for their own:

  • strategic development plans
  • funding
  • service provision
  • capacity building and training.

In some cases the organisations involved have links to national organisations. Affiliation to VISOP will be available to the following groups or organisations:

  • voluntary sector group or organisation
  • constituted group or organisation
  • group or organisation whose principle purpose is to provide activities or services for older people.

Current members include: Age UK Wakefield District, Re-Connect Project, Pontefract Live at Home Scheme, Carers Wakefield & District, Alzheimers Society Wakefield & Five Towns Branch, and DIAL. The following co-opted partners support the group: NHS Wakefield District.
