We rely on funding to deliver this vital service in the community through grants, commissioning and the generosity of the local community through donations and legacies.

Here's a very easy way to raise more - when you search the web, use the charity search engine 'easysearch' and half a penny will be donated to your cause for every search you make. Simply log into your easyfundraising account to access your unique easysearch address. You can raise £25 a year on average, simply by using easysearch instead of Google or any other search engine.

Use your will power

Be remembered for caring. Leaving a gift in your will can make a real difference to funding our services and support for voluntary and community groups.

Another good reason for leaving a gift in your will is that such bequests also reduce your Inheritance Tax liability. You can ask your solicitor for further guidance on this.

We recommend that you seek the guidance of a solicitor when you make your will. Although you will have to pay a fee, you will receive professional advice and can be sure that your intentions can be fully carried out.

If you have already made a will, you can also contact your solicitor to request to draw up a codicil. This simple process will enable you to change your existing will.

Examples of ways to leave a gift to us in your will include a:

  • specific sum of money
  • remainder or a portion of the remainder of your estate after payment of all liabilities and expenses and any legacies you have given
  • particular asset or specific goods (shares, jewellery)
  • contingent bequest: a gift should a particular event occur.

If you do consider leaving us a gift in your will, please provide your solicitor with our full name – Voluntary Action Wakefield District – and our registered charity number 516150.

Celebration time

Are you planning an anniversary or celebration? Are you dreading receiving yet another vase or unwanted gift from well meaning friends and family? Why not ask them to give a donation to VAWD in lieu of a present instead.

We would be delighted to receive the donations in honour of your special day and we will use them to provide our services and support to local groups.

If you have any questions about making a donation to VAWD, please contact us.
